Quest was contracted to assist Te Kahui Tupua, a $3 million project funded by the Ministry of Tourism as part of its major regional initiative [MRI] programme.
The goal was to help position the Ruapehu, Rangitikei and Whanganui districts as leading regions in New Zealand for an authentic country experience with a real connection to, and sense of, place. The primary need was to build international and domestic visitation throughout the year and counter peak by offering a unique escape from urban environments.
Outline of Development: The three districts of Ruapehu, Rangitikei and Whanganui offered a superb collection of owner operated properties but a gap existed in the market for the co-operative promotion of high quality rural retreats.
Completion of the project involved a wide range of business mentoring across all three districts with a focus on strategic marketing planning and export readiness. Primary project tasks involved group training workshops and one-on-one business mentoring plus market positioning and web marketing outputs in order to meet the project key performance indicators.
