Ovis Management

Overview

Ovis Management is 100% owned by the Meat Industry Association of NZ, a not-for-profit organisation focused on reducing the prevalence of sheep measles across New Zealand. Supported by major meat processors and industry partners, the programme monitors approximately 98% of New Zealand lambs processed nationally. Quest partnered with Ovis to strengthen its communication strategy, improve stakeholder engagement, and modernise its digital presence.

The Challenge

Ovis Management needed to better engage farmers, processors, and wider industry stakeholders around the importance of sheep measles control. Existing communication tools lacked consistency, visual impact, and emotional connection. The organisation also needed a clearer digital strategy to support education, awareness, and long-term behaviour change across the sector.

Our Approach

Quest’s assignment began with a strategic research and discovery process to identify marketing gaps, audience behaviours, and opportunities for stronger engagement. Working closely with the Ovis board, we developed a refreshed brand identity and a connected marketing programme designed to improve clarity, trust, and reach.

To strengthen human connection and storytelling, Quest produced a range of authentic video and photography content designed to better engage rural audiences and stakeholders. This was supported by redesigned print collateral, ongoing social media management, reporting, and the development of a mobile-friendly website featuring key programme information, SEO tools, Google Analytics integration, and enquiry functionality.

The Results

The refreshed marketing approach significantly improved stakeholder engagement and programme visibility. Social media engagement increased by more than 40%, while the programme successfully contributed to measurable reductions in sheep measles prevalence, including a 22% decrease across the South Island.

Outcome

The Ovis Management project demonstrates the power of combining strategic clarity with authentic storytelling and connected digital delivery. Through a long-term partnership approach, Quest helped transform a highly technical industry programme into a more accessible, engaging, and trusted brand experience – supporting meaningful behaviour change across New Zealand’s sheep industry.
