GISBORNE WINEGROWERS

The brief was to help drive the future development of Gisborne Winegrowers and in doing so for Gisborne to be recognised domestically and internationally as a world class, ultra premium wine growing region.

Quest was contracted by Wines of Gisborne to help drive the strategic direction of the association. A series of planning workshops, stakeholder presentations and site visits assisted this process.

The work was conducted in conjunction with The Wine Research Institute at Aucklalnd University, Gisborne District Council, Tairawhiti Regional Partnerships Programme and New Zealand Trade & Enterprise.

The terms of reference included four key areas of development: Infrastructure (water, land, climate, complianace, signage); Skills and Training (future market needs, gaps in delivery, appropriate skills and training programmes); Sustainable Land Management (Bio-dynamics and organics, viticulture research, Green Globe & Qualmark Green accreditation; Marketing (Pernod Rickard promotional activities, customer research, market segmentation, New Zealand Food & Wine Tourism Marketing Network).
