The brief was to provide communication planning advice to the Art Deco Trust regarding the timely release of core economic impact data relating to the business.
The Trust employs a full-time staff of four, assisted by over 100 dedicated volunteers. An estimated 33,000 people take an Art Deco Walk each year, 17,000 on guided walks led by the Trust's volunteer walk guides. After operating for 20 years, the Trust's turnover exceeded $1 Million.
Art Deco Napier is world renowned and the annual Art Deco Weekend event continues to be one of New Zealand's most iconic and unique international events.
In 1992, supported by the Napier City Council, the Trust became a full-time operation with a salaried Executive Director and premises at the Desco Centre, once Napier's Central Fire Station.
Nowhere else can you see the variety of buildings of the 1930s in such a concentrated area - Stripped Classical, Spanish Mission, and above all Art Deco. Napier's Art Deco is also totally unique, with Maori motifs and the buildings of Louis Hay, admirer of the great Frank Lloyd Wright.
